Technology Survey




1.      School name: Woodstock Elementary

2.      Name of Principal: Amy Martz

3.      Names of teachers talked with whose classrooms you visited and grade level: Mrs. Luck 3rd grade, Mrs. Shaap

4.      Ask the teachers/principal their perspective on current and future use of technology in the classroom: Her perspective was that there is going to be more and more technology and that it’s a good thing because the kids have to learn it but it can be hard to get enough for everyone.



5.      Does the school have its own website? If so who maintains the site what is the URL? Yes and the principal maintains it.

6.      Do teachers at the school have class blogs? If so who has access to them? The teacher I talked to didn’t because she didn’t have enough time.

7.      Is there a school technology supervisor?     Name? Yes. Mrs. Shaap

8.      Do all the classrooms have computers in them?         Explain what you find:

Almost every classroom had at least one computer. PC’s or Laptops.


9.      Is there a computer lab/s?                If so how is it used and by whom?
There were 2 computer labs. Any classes could use them to use the software for learning. Soon to be an ipad and ipod lab.


10.  What kinds of computers are in the school – PC’s, Laptops, Mac’s etc.? Overhead projection equipment etc.:

11.  What software programs are regularly used by teachers? Kidspiration, inspiration, worldbook, word, powerpoint, starfall, etc.

12.  Can/do teachers use the Internet in their instruction?          Detail findings.

Yes they use it to teach math, language, reading, etc.

13.  How does a teacher get further training to use technology? They have training available to them. Usually 2 hour meeting.

14.  See if you can get a sense of the % of students who might have a computer in their home:
About 90%

15.  Did you observe students using computer based technology?        If so detail what you observed:
Students in computer lab playing and learning with ipads.


16.  Other:
The teachers had microphones that they could strap around their neck so the kids could hear better.
